Helbronner

We kind of got lucky yesterday.
Whilst skiing the day before at Praz sur Arly, we'd seen the bad weather arriving from the south. Our guide had been at Courmayeur to know that it had snowed, and suggested that with the weather looking crappy everywhere, we try for some fresh tracks there again. Having left Chamonix in rain and gloom, we emerged through the tunnel to find the entire Aosta Valley bathed in sunlight with a foot of fresh snow. But maybe that's just Italy. Without so much as a word, Jerome made a left hand turn to the Helbronner cableway.
Basically we had clear skies and deep untracked knee-deep powder to ourselves for the entire day, all under the shadow of the crazy spires of the Mt Blanc Massif.
Morry was tired with jet-lag and acclimatisation so we stopped for lunch at the mid-station, intending for another lap, however the clouds started to move in, and we called it a day for a final descent to the valley.
